Twilight Tales returns! This popular and spooky dramatic production leads guests though a tour of the National Colonial Farm after sunset (when the ghosts come out to play!)
How does a 17th century English murder get turned into one of the most iconic songs of Appalachia? How does the murder of a 16th century Lord get turned into a classic children’s tune? Join our spirits this year as they take you though the site in song, using the murder ballad to illustrate some of the darker aspects of colonial life! Where did these songs come from and how did Americans make them their own? Twilight Tales: The Musical explores these questions and how attitudes towards death have changed over time and, with it, the murder ballad. 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th centuries (Yep, we said 20th!) have all contributed to this morbid corner of music history and the ghosts are more than willing to lead you along the way. Disease, sullied honor, and war (1812) all affected life and, if art imitates life, then art just got a whole lot spookier!
